Benchmark Builders is the culmination of Mike Hodes’s vision to build high quality custom homes in Jackson, while making the process satisfying and enjoyable for all involved. Drawing on a decade of experience in the building industry prior to Benchmark, Mike has fashioned and honed the company around an eclectic group of building trades professionals.
At Benchmark, the relationship between contractor and client is first and foremost. Benchmark’s building family is large and talented, and we pride ourselves on being able to work with the finest subcontractors and specialty crews Jackson Hole has to offer.
From design concept, to completion, to follow up after you’ve moved in, Benchmark is committed to providing an unparalleled experience for our clients. Whether you’re visiting your job site on a weekly basis, or following along from afar, we will tailor communications to fit your needs and have designed a unique system to keep you informed. Meet the partners
Mike Hodes
Mike is a 30 year resident of Teton County, moving to the area after obtaining his B.S. in Construction Management at Colorado State University.
Mike started his work in the building industry as a laborer, developing his skills and know-how with the plan to start his own business in 2004. Throughout his career Mike has worked hard at investing in long lasting relationships: nurtured connections he now utilizes on every job at Benchmark.
In his free time, you can find Mike bike racing or snowmobiling— often in the company of existing or previous clients and colleagues from his building experiences.
Owen Popinchalk
Owen was born in Jackson Hole and has lived the majority of his life in the area, spending countless hours in the backcountry of Northwest Wyoming. A love for climbing, skiing, and the outdoors led him to pursue a degree in Geography with an emphasis in G.I.S.
Owen studied architecture during his early years of college and entered into apprenticeships as both a carpenter and a tile setter, helping to solidify and expand both his skills and passion for building and design into a career.
When he's not working to ensure your project is running smoothly, Owen will be found spending time with his wife Joana, their newly-welcomed daughter Cora, and their dogs Yuki and Gus.
Forest Dramis
Forest has been a resident of Jackson for 25 years. After discovering the Tetons on a backpacking trip, he returned home to Ohio, gave notice at his job the next day, and moved to Jackson. After a career in marketing and information design, he decided a change was due and became a carpenter and tile setter. Throughout his professional career, he has focused on communication and coordination with clients and partners.
When not at work you can find Forest enjoying the outdoors on foot, bike or skis.
Dave Stromberg
Dave began his contracting experience at a young age, following closely the work ethic and devotion to a quality effort of his father who worked as a master plumber.
With over 40 years of professional experience in the building trades, Dave joined Benchmark three years ago and recently became a partner in the business.
A resident of the Jackson valley for 14 years now, Dave enjoys backcountry snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, and helping his son Scotty in the shop in his free time. At home, you’ll find him with Gracie and Frankie, his two spirited pugs.
